The Anniversary Dance
A popular dance floor trend that has been emerging lately is the anniversary dance. The anniversary dance at a wedding is a sweet and sentimental tradition used to honor married couples, especially those who have been together for many years.
How it Works:
The Beginning
The DJ will announce that they want all married couples to head to the dance floor for a special dance. The Eliminations
As the music plays, the DJ begins to call out milestones with a little humor. “If you’ve been married for less than a day—nice try, newlyweds, but it’s time to step aside!” “Less than a year? Thanks for coming, but you're out!” One by one, couples leave the dance floor as the years climb higher—5, 10, 20—until just one pair remains. The Winner
Once the longest-married couple is the only one left on the dance floor, they get a round of applause and a moment in the spotlight. The couple will then share their own love story and give the newlyweds some marriage advice. The couple with the longest marriage that I have personally witnessed is 62 years!
Why We Love It:
It’s a beautiful and fun way to honor lasting love and commitment.
It gives older generations a special moment.
It adds a touch of emotion and storytelling to the wedding day.
It is a great way to get people ready to party on the open dance floor.
