Make the Most of Your Wedding Weekend in Austin
Austin has quickly become a hotspot for destination weddings—and it’s easy to see why! Whether you're planning a wedding in town or hosting out-of-town guests, chances are you’re looking to turn the occasion into a full weekend experience. And if that’s the case, there’s no better place to explore than South Congress Avenue—or SoCo, as the locals call it.
SoCo is one of my favorite areas in Austin. It’s packed with charming local cafes, unique boutiques, and incredible food spots. Here’s how I would spend a perfect day in SoCo:
Morning
Start your day at Jo’s Coffee—a true Austin staple. Their coffee is honestly some of the best I’ve ever had, and it’s the perfect way to kick off your morning.
After that, take a stroll along South Congress and do a little retail therapy. Be sure to check out Aviator Nation, the Kendra Scott Flagship, Yellow Rose, and Paper Work. Each shop has its own vibe and offers something special you won't find anywhere else.
Lunch
When hunger strikes, head over to Hopdoddy for one of the best burgers in town. I always order the Thunderbird Burger—it’s a chicken burger, but honestly, it tastes just like a juicy hamburger. Trust me, it’s amazing.
Afternoon
After lunch, unwind at the iconic South Congress Hotel. Take a dip in their pool and sip on a handcrafted cocktail—it’s the perfect way to relax and soak up the Austin vibe.
Once you’ve recharged, it's time for more exploring. And since you’re in Austin, you have to try on some cowboy boots and a hat, right? For hats, I love Maufrais and Goorin Bros. Hat Shop. For boots, you can’t go wrong with Tecovas or the legendary Allen Boots.
Dinner & Nightlife
When evening rolls around, make your way to Perla’s for dinner. In my opinion, it’s home to some of the best seafood in Austin. I always get the seared ahi tuna—it never disappoints.
Wrap up the night with dessert at Amy’s Ice Creams, another Austin classic. My go-to is the Mexican Vanilla with homemade cookie dough—so good!
To top off your perfect SoCo day, catch some live music at the iconic Continental Club. It’s one of the most legendary venues in town, with great music playing every night.
