What is “Vibora de la Mar” or "The Sea Snake?"
The Vibora de la Mar is a Spirited Mexican Tradition which represents the highs and lows that couples face in their journey. I’ve seen it a few times and it can get pretty intense. What’s great about this game is it is an activity for all your guests to join in and have fun. It starts out by placing both the bride and the groom at the center of the dancefloor each on a chair, the bridesmaids hold up the bride and the groomsmen hold up the groom. Both the bride and the groom hold up the vail and this is where they make a bridge for guests to dance through. First the DJ will announce all women to the dancefloor, they then all join hands and run in a line under the vail bridge and throughout the reception table area for the duration of the vibora de la mar song. The song slows down and speeds up throughout. Once the song has concluded all the men will be announced to do the same. They all join hands and run under the vail bridge, and this is where it can get chaotic. Ladies are running in heels, and men are running as fast as they can, but all in fun, and they may or may not break the chain and get lost. This dance not only engages the guests but they get to witness the couples happiness when all their friends and family join and participate.
