Wedding Tipping Guidelines

One of the most frequently asked wedding questions in the United States is, “How much should we tip?” It's important to emphasize that tipping is entirely optional and should be based on the quality of service provided by each vendor. While tipping is often considered mandatory at restaurants, it is different for weddings—tipping is truly at your discretion and should reflect your satisfaction with the service.

Below are general guidelines for tipping based on the level of service you receive. Please remember that not every vendor may require a tip, and this list is organized alphabetically for your convenience:

Baker: $20

Caterer: $25/waiter & $50/chef

DJ: $75-$100

Florist: $50

Hair & Makeup Artist: $25 per artist

Officiant: $25

Photo Booth: $25

Photographer: $100 for the primary photographer & $50 for the secondary photographer

Transportation: $20 per driver

Venue Coordinator: $50-$75

Videographer: $100 for the primary videographer & $50 for the secondary videographer

Wedding Planner: $100
