Wedding Tipping Guidelines

One of the most frequently asked wedding questions in the United States is, “How much should we tip?” It's important to emphasize that tipping is entirely optional and should be based on the quality of service provided by each vendor. While tipping is often considered mandatory at restaurants, it is different for weddings—tipping is truly at your discretion and should reflect your satisfaction with the service.

Below are general guidelines for tipping based on the level of service you receive. Also, for every vendor below, please check your contract to see if gratuity has been included already.

Live Band/Musician: $25 - $50 per musician

Bartending Staff: 10% of total bill.

  • Starting at $75 per bartender up to 75 guests

  • Starting at $100 for 75+ guests

Cake Delivery: $15 - $20

Caterer: 15-20% of total bill 

Coordinator (Day-of): $50 - $150

Coordinator (Month-of): $250 - $500

Full Planner: $350 - $500

Delivery Personnel: $5 - $10 

DJ: $130 - $200

Florist: 10-15% of bill or $50-$100 split with floral staff

Hair and Make-Up: 15-25% of total bill split with artist(s)

Officiant: $50 - $100

Photo Booth / 360: $25 - $75

Photographer / Videographer: $ 75 - $100 per person

Shuttle Transportation / Exit Vehicle: 15-20% of total bill. 

Wait Staff: $20 - $25 per staffer 

Other Services: Drapery, Entertainment Artist: $25-$50
