San Antonio is a stunning wedding destination, and the iconic River Walk is one of its most beloved attractions. If you're celebrating your big day—or simply visiting for a wedding—here's a perfect way to spend a day exploring the charm and beauty of the San Antonio River Walk.

1. Breakfast at a Riverfront Café

  • Start with breakfast at one of the beautiful cafes along the riverfront. You can’t go wrong with the classic Tex-Mex breakfast — breakfast tacos.

2. Stroll the River Walk Early

  • Enjoy the cooler morning air and walk the scenic loop.

3. Take a Go Rio River Cruise

  • After walking along the riverfront, hop on a River cruise and learn about San Antonio’s history, architecture, and local legends while relaxing on the water.

4. Explore Downtown Landmarks

  • Walk over to The Alamo — just a short walk from the riverfront. Learn more about the historic battle and why it is so important in Texas history.

  • Optional: Visit the Briscoe Western Art Museum or San Fernando Cathedral nearby.

5. Lunch on the River

  • Try Boudro’s on the Riverwalk, or Casa Rio, where you’ll find amazing Mexican food and where you’ll be able to sit right at the riverfront’s edge.

6. Shopping

  • Visit the Shops at Rivercenter, where you’ll be able to find great shops and pick up some souvenirs.

  • Visit La Villita Historic Arts Village for local art, pottery, and handmade gifts.

7. Optional Museum Stop

  • If you love culture, visit the San Antonio Museum of Art, just a quick walk away from the Riverwalk.

8. Relax with a Drink

  • Grab an afternoon margarita or iced coffee at Ocho at Hotel Havana, a beautiful riverside glass conservatory.

9. Dinner Along the Water

  • Head over to one of the riverside restaurants to enjoy a classic TexMex or Mexican dinner, while watching the sunset set over the river.

10. Catch a Show or Light Display

  • See a performance at the Arneson River Theatre or check out the San Antonio | The Saga — a spectacular 24-minute projection on the San Fernando Cathedral. This is free and they usually have shows at 9:00, 9:30, and 10:00 PM.

11. Nightcap or Dessert

  • End with a nightcap at Esquire Tavern, the oldest bar on the River Walk, or get dessert at one of the many riverfront dessert spots.
